Top Ladies of Distinction, Incorporated, founded on June 4, 1964, in Tyler, Texas, represents a collective endeavor focused on leveraging women's talents, skills, and education nationwide to address the moral and social challenges faced by youth during the mid-sixties. TLOD officially chartered on September 8, 1964. In November 1976, Alma Harris Mayson, a resident of Detroit. Michigan was invited to establish a local TLOD chapter in Detroit. As a result, the Detroit Chapter of TLOD was formally granted its charter on November 7, 1977. The year 1978 marked the establishment of the Detroit Chapter's Top Teens of America. Top Teens of America is the number one thrust for TLOD. A significant milestone occurred in 1985 when the Detroit Chapter TLOD sponsored Rosa Parks, extending her honorary membership nationally. Since its inception, the Detroit Chapter has consistently played a pivotal role in positively impacting the metro Detroit community.
